lownote
In an extraordinarily idle moment I found myself browsing through the job ads on DPD's website. I was somewhat WTF-ed to discover that to be a graduate trainee at DPD (from recent experience I guess they need to understand ballistics as well as logistics) you need a 2:1 degree MINIMUM. I cannot say that one of the inducements to apply for uni offered me 45 years ago was that achieving a first would guarantee me a job in a courier company. martthebass
Unfortunately, in general 45 years ago the percentage of graduands achieving a 1st or 2:1 was somewhat less than now. As I recall, the people I knew who achieved 1sts in my cohort (Uni of B'ham - 1984) was 4 out of 70 and they were 'special' people...... Supply and demand and all that..... stingrayPete1977
Surely it's a step up from Costa Coffee where most degrees are put into use?

martthebass
Perhaps now there's a call for Barrista degrees? Modules on bean roasting and 'froth art'?
naxos10
With the number of courses available at universities now a Coffee Degree is probably being brewed at this minute

MacDaddy
10 years ago I was applying for jobs I was over qualified for with a masters, losing out to the PhDs who'd applied.
