anzoid Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 And now there's a thread for all the yellow basses out there... though I fear mine might end up lonely in this thread... First is my new Steinberger Spirit XT2. Very pleased with it though frets need a bit of attention. Second is a heavily modded Vintage (the brand) Stingray copy. Stripped the body, got it refinished by Jack's Instrument Services in Manchester (he did a fabulous job), new electronics and tuners and hardware and... I sold it because it still didn't come out how I wanted at the time (now I think I would know what to do to make it work for me... you live and learn) Anyway, I like yellow basses. Quote
NancyJohnson Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Here you go. It's also for sale in the for sale section. Quote

It's rare that I get jealous of other people's basses - I'm generally pretty content with my collection - but this, oh wow... this is... yes please when you decide to sell it - which you never will Quote
Chris2112 Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Oh I beg your pardon, I thought this was just a repository for drool-worthy images! I've never been lucky enough to own a yellow Kubicki Ex Factor, though I have had both white and red models. Nor do I own a yellow Bogart, but I do have a blue one. 1 Quote
LeftyJ Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 I've seen (and heard) that yellow Kubicki in the flesh and it is AWESOME. Someone on a Dutch forum owns it (or an identical one). I wish they made some lefties, but unfortunately there is only one in existance and it has a righty Ex-Factor neck for a lefty who plays upside down 🙁 1 Quote

Drool worthy photos is cool as far as I'm concerned - not sure what the protocol is in Gear Porn threads Although this is a yellow bass thread any photos of your Factors would be welcome... I wonder if there's a Kubicki porn thread... So, now I'm going to have to track down an unknown person (Dutch apparently - - thanks @LeftyJ - way to make the GAS even worse :)) and see if they want to sell... or maybe not, got no money for a Factor anyway. LeftyJ Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 It's The One Bass for him, he's very unlikely to ever sell it. He's had it for over 10 years. Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 I don't have a yellow bass, but I would like one to match my car 2 Quote

The album's artwork had a black and yellow colour scheme so it was quite fitting. It was actually a fretless. I don't think it was ever properly used on that album, IIRC the only place it turns up is the first couple of seconds of 'if you're scared, stay home'. Vail Johnson also had a yellow Ex Factor too, but I haven't listened to his records in years. Quote

Steve Blackdog Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) I had a 1978 Fender Precision in yellow like this one. Mine didn’t have all the chrome covers and was a bit more used than this one! Great bass, but it did mean you couldn’t stand at the back of the stage out of the way! i also had a 1971 vw beetle in yellow! Edited November 16, 2018 by Steve Blackdog 4 Quote

yorks5stringer Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 This is more 'mellow' yellow (Buttercream to be exact). It's a new series 2018 Mexican Player with maple neck, black pickguard and some Custom Shop pickups. 1 Quote
anzoid Posted November 22, 2018 Author Posted November 22, 2018 Nice with the black scratchplate rather than the stock white. Do the Custom Shop pickups make a big difference? Quote

Do the Custom Shop pickups make a big difference? Dunno, they were on when I bought it secondhand. The first owner thought the OEM ones were 'too modern' and swapped them out and who was I to object? I've got USA Classics, Japanese Squier's and an Oil City single coil in a Blue Flower bass. Withe exception of the last one, they all sound very similar on flats and through a Markbass... Quote
