Is this another fake or genuine? Serial number isn’t recognised

I thought E serial numbers were Jap and then I thought they had 6 numbers after. Or is it genuine. Fender USA serial number database doesn’t recognise it.

The knobs are off an 80s model like the Precision Lyte. The tuners are the lightweight ones that have been fitted to US Standards for a while. If it is a recent US Standard, I'm thinking there should be the option of through-body stringing, but no ferrules on the back.

I'm guessing it's a bitsa.

It was the serial number that threw me first then I saw the witches hat F knobs which were on only 2 series of basses and I think they were both Japan made.

It's a late 80s /early 90s USA Jazz, sometimes called a longhorn or boner.

The fender website doesn’t recognise the serial number but then that’s no surprise!!!

To fill in some blanks, he bought the bass in 2007 believing it to be new but it looks like it is a 90s Fender USA longhorn jazz. I googled some other longhorns and they do have the same style e series serial number that isn’t on the fender website.

Quite why these serial numbers arent recognised on the USA fender instrument dating website is a bit odd.
