Stompbox Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 I’ve just discovered this pack of used double bass strings amongst all my bits and pieces. I got these with a double bass several years ago – the bass has long gone, but these were in my box of strings. Now the pack says “Pirastro”, but I can’t be sure if they are another set that were taken off the bass as the new strings were put on. Does anyone know what brand they are – can you identify them from the “silks”? Using my trusty micrometer, the gauges are 50 thou for the G, 65 for the D, 80 for the A, and 107 for the E. The windings on the strings all appear to be OK. I’m looking to put them up for sale on the site, so I don’t want to “mis-describe” them, and I’m really not sure what a reasonable price would be. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Quote
TheRev Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 I don't think they're Jazzers, according to B9b Gollihurs string identifier, Jazzers have red silks at the pegbox end and the ball end is wrong for Pirastro strings. The colours are right for Thomastik Superflexibles , but the ball end isn't Quote
BassBags Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 They look like Jargar Mediums to me. David. Quote
