I'm looking for something affordable that produces as close as possible to the flat uncoloured tone of my bass. I've narrowed it down to the HD210 or 210XL from Hartke (open to opinions on which is best out of those) and the RS210 from TC. Does anyone have any experience with any of these models?

I'm worried that the aluminium cones in the Hartkes would be too much treble for what I'm after. I usually go for quite a dark tone so is this worth worrying about? I play with dead tapewounds usually and assume I can just roll off tone or EQ if that's a problem for me.

I was thinking TC until the other day someone told me they experienced TC cabs to be a bit mid range heavy so not sure if anyone has any insight on that?

Hello mate.

I have 2 210 cabinets and 2 115 Hy-Drive cabinets, used for varying results. I have to say the HD’s are exemplary, the aluminium element doesn’t overly brighten anything - they are just powerful and immediate sounding.

Cheers,

Lee

I use TC cabs. The RS210 & RS112. They do indeed colour the sound but I really like how they do it.

They are quite old school warm and middy to my ears and handle drive really well.. Then again I never have the horns on. Probably not the best if you want clean, flat response from your cabs.

Only reason I asked is I’m NE based now, if you’re up this way for any reason you’re welcome to try.

Thanks for the offer. That would be helpful. If I’m ever in your area I’ll let you know.
