I have for sale an American Fender Jazz Bass QMT which according to the serial number was made in 2003. I purchased the bass in 2004 with a Badass 2 bridge fitted and it was set up by the bass gallery with a low action. The original bridge comes with the bass (string through body type) and all the original candy is there including cleaning spray and rag (still in package) truss rod wrench, and guitar lead. Comes with original brown G & G USA made case. The bass is in new old stock condition!

Below is an advert for the bass when it was introduced which gives a full breakdown of specs.

The new American Deluxe Jazz Bass QMT is a stunning piece of classic Fender craftsmanship. With a Quilt Top, this Jazz Bass features a beautiful 1/8" thick piece of solid figured maple that is hand bent to the top for the "perfect" sonic and visual compliment. Along with all the standard qualities that make this a Jazz Bass, the "New" Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups offer you the ultimate in superior tone and flexibility. In addition, the new American Deluxe Jazz Bass features built-in active EQ for control of treble, midrange, and bass boost. And this Jazz Bass gives you the choice of a topload or strings-through-body bridge. American DeLuxe Jazz Bass QMT Features:

I have many fender basses but my Favorite is a 1974 American Jazz Bass ( ex Julian Crampton )  plus a Sadowsky but the build quality of this bass is not surpassed by any current fender bass on offer! A lot of the time you struggle to get a low action on many new basses but this is ideal and something you can work with as opposed with not managing to get it low enough so if you like digging in just simply raise the action.

Stunning bass, but personally I think this price is much too high. The last one on bass direct at the end of last year went for £1250. I am looking for one of these but wouldn't want to go above £1500, unless I am missing something. Is QMT considered more desirable than FMT?

Hi,

I have not seen any new old stock advertised anywhere.I bought it new and the only thing I have done is had it properly set up and couple of hours or so playing about on it and that’s it! It’s been stored really since 2003. 😮

That’s my main reason I have priced it as such but also after looking around in showrooms for overall build quality , setup and sound there’s not much of a choice from sub £2000.00. It’s always subjective on what someone is willing to pay for something. Plus the never ending problem on a lot of basses trying to achieve a low action! Not with this bass!

If I don’t sell it will remain in its case for another few years I guess.  Even my Sadowsky MV4 doesn’t come close to this for overall build quality but the presentation of the electronics cavity and shielding on the sadowsky is superb!

I've always loved these particular  Fenders and I'm amazed why Fender dont excite the bass guitar world with basses like them since. BTW You can achieve a very low action on basses sub £500, and incredibly playable.  But its your bass.you charge what you want. It would a shame to leave this bass in its case.  With all respect and I know I shouldn't say it but £2400 is just way out there for a QMT deluxe Jazz. Even in brand new condition.
