moonbass Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 (edited) **SOLD** Hi All, Reluctant sale as need money for house repairs. I’m based in Cambridge, but happy to meet in reasonable distance. Bought this his year from fellow Basschat member in France. I hope he doesn’t mind me using his excellent description!: - Wal MKII 5 strings from 1988 (W3114) - Brazilian Mahogany body - Maple neck and rosewood fretboard - Solid black body - Complete clear gloss finish (body + neck) - 17mm string spacing - 5.2kg. - Original Wal case included, also in a very good condition. The bass condition is amazing for a 20 years old bass. The only changes made on the bass has been to change the frets. It has been made by Christope Leduc last year (May 2017) and he made a complete checkup as well. Edited November 17, 2018 by moonbass 3
silverfoxnik Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 And a very, very good price for a Wal 5 too! GLWTS
Paul S Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 The condition IS amazing for a 20 year old bass. So the fact that this is 30 years old is even more impressive 1.5kg too heavy otherwise I'd be searching the back of the sofa!
moonbass Posted November 15, 2018 Author Posted November 15, 2018 Control cavity info had been requested:
moonbass Posted November 15, 2018 Author Posted November 15, 2018 And oops, spotted the typo in my original post, the bass is indeed 30 years old!! (That’ll teach me to copy and paste someone else’s work!)
Pukie Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Phew ! That fifth string means I don't have to have an argument with the wife! Nice. 1
moonbass Posted November 15, 2018 Author Posted November 15, 2018 Aha, you’re in luck; the B string is entirely user-removable for a versatile 4-string experience!
NickA Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 (edited) That 5th string makes it pretty tempting .. good price and good condition too. Solid colours are really the fashion in the states right now ( beats me, I like the fancy facewood wals ) and prices are much higher there too ... but probably the rosewood fingerboard would be an export issue. The add has already been reposted on the wal lovers Facebook page, so lots of statesiders will see it and drool. Should we start a campaign to keep it in the UK? Edited November 16, 2018 by NickA spelling - autocorrect can't handle the single l in Wal!
moonbass Posted November 15, 2018 Author Posted November 15, 2018 I feel I have done my bit repatriating it from France! Would be very happy to meet up with any potential UK buyers who want to try it out (not sure I’m keen on international shipping!)
