As would be Basschat, were it not for the vigilance and diligence of the Mod and Admin team. All sites on t'web are bombarded constantly with stuff of the sort; it's up to their teams to make sure that very little gets through, and what does pass, is swiftly removed. It would appear that jmb are less fortunate, s'all..?

JMB is really the best of a bad lot, but as others have said, a lot of dreamers and fools on there. The wording of the ads can usually set off alarm bells - for me, anyway.

Bandmix is a complete waste of time - half the people advertising on there seem to misunderstand how to use the composition menus, so the search result says they are looking for a bass player, but their page reveals they are actually looking for a girl singer.

Find a musician - a waste of time.

Starnow - only recently found this, but seems to be the same ads up all the time with nothing new.

I'm depping at the moment but have been looking for a decent permanent covers band position for over a year now. Maybe I'm too fussy - I've only chosen to do one audition in all this time. That was fine musically, but the rest of the band were all about 30 years younger, and who would want their Dad playing on stage with them?  😥

I frequently report scam posts like these on JMB. However there is one user who persistently posts misleading ads on JMB that are deigned solely to drive traffic to his YouTube posts - he has no intention of recruiting musicians for his band, which is going to be the next Beatles/Nirvana/whatever.

I could get no response from the site over a log-in issue that required a password reset....

T'wouldn't happen here. Any log in trouble gets our immediate and full attention, and the case is swiftly closed, to the satisfaction of everyone. It wouldn't do to have such a topic hanging around for too long.:|

Stupid question, but if you can't log in then how do you notify the mods?

Maybe the Basschat team could set something up and do it properly - would be great to have a well thought out resource to find bands or band mates.

I misunderstood this as Basschat getting into the counterfeit cash business! Could be a money-spinner! Ker-ching! :)

JMB is like 80% dreamers and time wasters. I sometimes reply to ads just to see what their angle is.

Im pretty sure there’s a thread about dreamers on JMB somewhere on bc. The content in that thread is top notch quality.

So you literally go on there to waste peoples time . Funny

I've been looking on JMB recently, having moved to a new area earlier in the year. Now I'm settled in the new place, I'm looking to get out and do a bit of playing, so I put an ad' on JMB and have replied to a few. Nothing worth following up on as yet, but am meeting up with some guys who sound quite promising tomorrow evening.. Fingers crossed. I appreciate that you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet a handsome prince, but JMB can be handy when you don't know anyone locally.

I use Bandmix.com. I find that you have people listing the instruments they play so frustrating.

Vocalists who play drums and saxophone, guitarists who play everything, including bass. Make your minds up - what are you representing yourself as? If you play everything maybe you should put your time into specialising in one.

There have been times when our band is looking to recruit someone, and we've paid for a month's subscription on Bandmix because it's the only way you can message people, because it's not free.

Over the past couple of years we have sent out 102 messages to people on there, just FIVE people bothered to reply.

At least with JMB you don't have to pay to contact the "time-wasters" that seem to be in abundance on both sites.

Good luck - I hope you find something to suit you soon.

I think the 'kiss a lot of frogs' approach is the best way to look at it. I've had quite a lot of success on JMB, both my current bands got together there. You sometimes end up down a few dead ends, but that's the way it goes.
