Skybone
I would say that if you are thinking of keeping the MB3 as your main preamp pedal, then why go for the HX Stomp? Surely it's a wee bit overkill, when you could just get the HX FX instead, and run it through the loop of the MB3.
Wombat
I only use the Stomp. I have different patches designed for different songs/styles and basses. I use two paths, a TRS from the main out to the desk for my ‘sound’, then the other out the send to an amp (if I’m using one) as a monitor- and for ‘look’ as even some band mates are weirded out if you don’t have an amp on stage. I don’t feel/see the need for anything else.

SamIAm
I stumbled across this rather neat approach to setting up a Morningstar MC6 to drive an HX Stomp ... just waiting for a pair of 5-pin MIDI cables to arrive to see if I've programmed it all correctly! Merton
Hi all, I think I’ve asked this before but I’m going to ask again with a few (limiting!) caveats. My pedal board is very basic - Line 6 G30 wireless (standard Boss style power connector) into AB switch into HX Effects (with the “Line 6” power connector style). The AB switch is to allow me to use a cable rather than wireless without too much faff. So I don’t need an insanely clever power supply with millions of outputs, just a simple device with as few as possible. I need 1A for the HX, and the right connector obviously, alongside another ~100mA for the G30. At the moment they each have their own PSU, which is just messy and crap. Over the weekend I bought a True Tone 1-Spot combo pack which seemed to be the perfect solution: “Line 6” connector adaptor Max 1.7A current capacity Ability to cap off the unused plugs. Brilliant. It arrived today, and works brilliantly for the G30 (and even the AB switch should I so desire); the HX Effects, however, doesn’t power up at all. And plugging that in completely kills the power to the other two units. WTF? So… what other options are there which won’t break the bank, don’t have countless outputs and will actually bloody WORK with the HX?

I am not familiar with the 1spot stuff, but if you have a look at this page https://truetone.com/1-spot-accessories/ it seems to say that you need both a CL6 & CYR for the HX FX or HX Stomp ... might this be germane? SamIAm
10 minutes ago, Merton said: Ah! So it’s ineptitude on my part! @SamIAm you are a legend 😎 No ... it is not at all clear (IMHO). I'm guessing that some of the older Line6 gear used centre positive, so they seem to have wired the CL6 to reverse polarity! I saw on another site that the CL6 is specced as "CL6 – (5.5x2.1mm barrel input, 5.5x2.5 barrel output; reverse polarity) Green – for Line 6 DL4/M9/etc. and some Eventide pedals." I never would have thought of it! As it happens I've a 2.1mm to 2.5mm adapter on its way to me so I can power my HX Stomp from a normal pedal PSU ... I must check it does not do the polarity reversal also! Sam x

Sam x Damn and blast it ... the one heading to me is from Rockport and on reading the fine details it also does the switch to centre positive ... I'm either going to have to source a polarity reverser thing ... or just chop it midway and resolder in the correct way! Sam x
tauzero
I have a 1-Spot powering an HX Stomp from the rightmost power outlet, other outlets being used for a MIDI switch, HPF/LPF, and Harley-Benton wireless. Just used a 2.1 to 2.5 non-reversing lead (chopped the end off a 2.1-2.1 and put on a 2.5).
Merton
Well when I got the correct adaptor (thanks again @SamIAm!) it powered up beautifully. And then created a bloody lovely hum which I presume is due to the HX power not being isolated from the G30 wireless power. Back to the drawing board… One of these looks good, along with a current doubler and the two Truetone adaptors to get into the HX…: https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_powerplant_iso_1ac_pro_modular.htm

funkle
Quick question to the masses. I use the Stomp powered by a portable USB battery (https://amzn.eu/d/jdfMPtF) as part of my busking set up. It’s great. (If any other interest, have a look at this thread here - ) My question. I need a very thin and very small board to stick the Stomp and USB power supply on to in order to keep them off the ground/general filth + keep them secure. I’ll stick the battery and Stomp to it with Velcro. I don’t want any other pedals or stuff to go on there, portability is key. I want to be able to still throw the board with Stomp and USB power on it into my gig bag pocket. Any suggestions for a board? Maybe a Pedaltrain Booster would work? I've seen people add feet to these and use them as pedalboards. The PB2 looks about the right size to have the Stomp on the top, and the battery velcro-ed underneath.

Just put a Joyo isolator to the wireless to isolate it from the stomp. The Joyo isolator is around £10 https://www.thomann.de/gb/joyo_zgp_noise_blocker.htm?glp=1&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwmYCzBhA6EiwAxFwfgEUrkAow5dQKexAhn3BFP_uUDJtN70wYGabP9IKbmWbq2w28n9edoBoCUQQQAvD_BwE Edited June 5 by ordep

funkle
Another good suggestion from @SamIAm - Gator G Mini Bone - https://gatorco.com/product/mini-bone-pedal-board-g-mini-bone/
funkle
Right, the Pedaltrain PT PB-2 looks ideal - exactly the right size, the battery pack will fit underneath too - I'll velcro it on. I've just ordered one and some rubber feet too. It's also cheaper than the G Mini Bone. I'll report back once I try it out!

Merton
So thanks to @SamIAm and @ordep for their suggestions I now have a perfectly functioning power solution for my board. Marvellous 😎
funkle
Ok, the Pedaltrain PB-2 was too small. Couldn’t fit the power supply underneath. However, the PB-3 was perfect for my modest needs. I stuck some rubber feet on the bottom and I’m good.
SamIAm
Lovely ultra small rig @funkle! What are you using between USB Brick & Stomp? My setup is larger (What with MIDI and Expression); my large power brick can directly output 9v to power the Stomp, but I might investigate the MyVolts Ripcord to allow for a smaller USB brick. Sam x Yeah, I've got a cheap USB C cable in there hooking up to a MyVolts USB-C to 2.5mm 5v to 9v Step Up adapter. https://myvolts.co.uk/product/84651/myVolts_USB-C_PD_Step_Up_Tip_9V_c-ve_2.1mm_2.5mm Warning, the MyVolts adapter/USB cable needs to be plugged into the USB power supply first for it to negotiate the correct voltage, and then after that, plugged into the Stomp, for it to work. Had a horrible minute or two when I first hooked everything up and it didn't work, even though the USB brick I bought definitely can put out 5A current over USB-C (at 5V, I didn't quite appreciate the importance of this at first). But I worked out that 1) it's probably putting out closer to 3A at 9V, which is fine, so it should work, and 2) that I needed to let the components talk to other a bit to negotiate things (something here about QC and PD protocol compatibility, as MyVolts explain on their website). So it all worked out in the end.
