JakeBrownBass Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) Ok, seen as theres a fair few of us from good ol' yorkshire, i think its about time we have our own bass bash! So, anyone from yorkshire or around yorkshire, if your interested, let me know! Suggestions on venues etc... Oh, and what gear you'll bring Jake Edited December 2, 2008 by jake_tenfloors Quote
Toasted Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Not that I'm volunteering him, but Keith did a stellar job of the BBB Quote
Chipps Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 If I'm around, then I'll be up for it. Were you thinking of a weekend? Or a weekday evening? Might affect where we can all gather... We could have 15 bassists and one guitarist - just to turn the tables on most jam nights... Where's in the middle for most people? Huddersfield/Halifax? Or more Leeds way? I'm only just in West Yorks here, teetering on the Lancs border, but I could make it to most places... Not that I have many free weekends. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 It was billed as the Yorkshire Bass Bash, took place on June 29th and attendees came from as far as Donny, Cass and Harrogate. I don't know if the timing was wrong ( I contacted every Yorks based BC'er) as only around 15 Basschatters came but I dragged a few more other bassists in through contacts. The Raffles and Auctions raised over £500 for music -related charities. We have decent venue for £nada in Baildon (The Copper Beech Club) but I'd like to see a few more people stepping forward to help with the organisation( especially on the day) if it was repeated. Not that I'm saying there have not/won't be offers! Quote
JakeBrownBass Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Well i was thinking a weekend and preferably a saturday! Quote

Chipps Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Perhaps everyone was at (or playing at) Glastonbury? I'd be up for helping out if I'm around. I tend to be busy every weekend of the summer though... Shipley's good for me - I'd thought it was Baildon, Essex at first... Quote
Monz Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Wow a bass bash that I wouldn't have to drive 400 miles round trip to... Definately count me in, would be happy to help in any way I could Quote
casapete Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Would be interested too..maybe a Sunday would be better for those who gig most Saturdays? Quote
Born 2B Mild Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Talk about a timely thread! Having been inspired by the recent North East mini convention (not that I went), I was about to suggest I sorted something out similar for a Harrogate venue. I was thinking of it being a Saturday in late Jan or Feb. The reason for Harrogate is its easy to get to from the A1 for the North East members, and of also most of Leeds, Bradford and York is within 25 miles. There's also several BCers in Harrogate already. I have a venue in mind that can cope with all numbers. So, if folk want me to proceed with this, I will. Quote
JakeBrownBass Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 harrogate sounds good to me! I'll add a poll for preferred day! Jake Quote

yorks5stringer Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 "Shipley's good for me - I'd thought it was Baildon, Essex at first..." Yes, it's the well known spellcheck default of "Basildon" ..... Quote
Adrenochrome Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Harrogate sounds good to me! I don't have any exciting gear to bring though... Quote
Dr.Dave Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I'm in - any WE really , but may have a gig the same evening otherwise I'm up for a jar too. Quote
Adam.M Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I vote for Leeds, anywhere near Kirkstall Road or Burley Road would be just fine... Hah, i'm lazy! Yeah last time i just couldn't get the day off... Quote
2wheeler Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I would like to come along but I generally need a lot of notice. For example, I am already committed to something else on the 3rd Sunday of every odd month in 2009. Totally free for 2010 though! Quote
mewsie Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) i'd be up for it, providing i'm free on the day of course. i'll bring cake. (i'm in north leeds) Edited December 2, 2008 by mewsie Quote

OutToPlayJazz Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I was thinking (have passed this past Dave Ryan's nose as well) of a clinic at Electro Music in Doncaster in the new year. Where we don't just show off our gear & chat, but we get to share experiences & technical knowhow with no pressure from "known" celeb players or anything. How does that sound? Rich. Quote
