IMG_0259.thumb.PNG.b06d9f1b62c5cae0aac2bbbeae743870.PNGThank you, I was hoping to be able to just buy the barrels, or even better, the barrels with the string heightĀ and intonation screws, if possible being a 'tight old pensioner' šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ - used ones would be just as good, if anyone has any? šŸ‘šŸ‘

Yes, I saw these but didn't know if it was for one, or a set of four, bit pricey for a single barrelĀ - thank you.šŸ‘šŸ‘

Does anybody know what benefit, if any, this type of saddle is supposed to confer on an instrument or is it just a period look thing ?

Personally I don't get the slavish bbot bridge thing - it was just cheap simple and and pretty effective and still used for those reasons but some modern bridges are better from a number of standpoints be it adjustability, ease of loading, stability, sustain, balance of instrument etc...

I think the only benefits are that they tend to look the part on period Basses and arguably, Ā provideĀ Ā a very small amount of sideways movement to improve alignment with pickup poles or neck.

You can also alter your string spacing šŸ˜€

Yes, that's what I meant by sidewaysĀ movement - it's 'notĀ a lot' but can help on some Basses to line up better with pickup pole pieces, or to move a string slightly away from the edge of the fingerboard šŸ‘šŸ‘
