Sometimes I just like watching musicians' faces.... I'm not sure I've seen a bunch of musicians feeling it more than this, but special mention for the drummer...

Seen it many times over the decades and never gets old. Shrieve was an awsome tubbist.

I have some Santana on CD , and both albums by Automatic Man,   ( band involving Shrieve post Santana )  which is a real treasure.

That was the best performance at Woodstock AND, they were (according to Carlos) all as high as kites😂

Michael Shrieve was only about 16 or 17 at the time I seem to remember.

Honourable mention to the late David Brown on bass....did a couple of stints with Carlos, awesome player.

Not a particularly well known name, and sadly the drink and drugs took him in the end.

Mike Shrieve giving it his all on the biggest stage.

One of rocks' magic moments and my favourite Woodstock clip.

New Santana CD's sitting 4' away ready for Christmas wrapping.

I thought that too but just looked it up and he'd just turned 20 at Woodstock.  Maybe he was 16 or 17 when he joined?

Still very young and mega talented though!

Shrieve is a very good drummer. Perhaps the most important record of his career is his solo album 'Two Doors' (incorrectly listed on Spotify as having been released in 1979, it was actually recorded in 1995). The first half of the album features eight songs where Shrieve plays in a trio setting with Jonas Hellborg and Shawn Lane. I recall that Lane had said that he and Jonas had composed the music, but due to the issues that Lane was having with his label, Warner Brothers, the album was released under Shrieve's name to circumvent the involvement of WB.

The Shrieve/Hellborg/Lane side is really excellent, with a strong eastern/Indian influence on their high-stakes fusion.

Yup - thats one of the albums featuring Shrieve that i mentioned. The other one by the same band is Visitors. I prefer the first one that you posted though
