bubinga5 Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 (edited) Not heard a lot of this band or know much about them, But I think I will delve deeper as this is fantastic. Edited December 10, 2018 by bubinga5 2 Quote
John T Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Vulfpeck, off the wall, wacky and brilliant. Quote
NJE Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 I am slowly working through the Vulfpeck back catalogue. I love a few of the better known tracks, back pocket, dean town etc but there is so much out there to get to know and love. I am currently obsessed with The Birdwatcher and The Speedwalker and the new track with Theo Katzman up front; Half of the way. Quote
stewblack Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Basschat introduced me to them not long back and it was love at first sight. Theo Katzman's solo stuff is also excellent. Quote

Crappy Love Songs one of my faves right now. What astonishes me is how a band can feature a talent as sublime as Joe Dart and yet he doesn't actually stand out. That's how great all the others are. It's a collective of creativity and musicianship which is both fun, entertaining and yet technically and musically excellent. Quote
spencer.b Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Love the new record , on the fence before thought they were too self aware ,pastiche ,muso but I'm listening to them more and more Joe Dart's amazing, when I learn his lines I think oh simple pentatonic stuff but his rhythmic articulation sound and feel are amongst the best I've heard Inspiring bass playing Quote
John T Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 (edited) love most of their stuff and in particular Hero town....The big fella on the drum throne is so solid, cracking feel too. Reminds me of the theme tune to Grange Hill! Edited December 12, 2018 by John T 1 Quote

krispn Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 (edited) The earlier stuff is great and worth a look for sure. That vulf compressor just makes e’rything phat and squishy. Put that in a compressor thread for folks who ‘can’t hear a comp’ working. It’s the core of the VP sound! Edited December 13, 2018 by krispn 1 Quote
NJE Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Can’t go wrong with some early morning acoustic-mandolin-funk courtesy of Vulfpeck and the immensely talented Chris Thile... Quote

acidbass Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Superb track although it really doesn’t need those two old chisellers on guitar and drums, they don’t add anything. A nice doff of the cap to their heroes if nothing else. 1 Quote
rogerstodge Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Very good stuff, one of the best bassists I’ve heard in a long time Quote
PatrickJ Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Finally had a chance to listen to the new album, Hill Climber, today on my drive to Oxford. I think it's probably my favourite :). Really liking Joe's tone on it, much more than some of the previous records. Does anyone know if he used his new MM signature for the recordings? 1 Quote

mingsta Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Great band.saw them a few months ago at Brixton academy of whatever the f##k it's branded nowadays and they rocked it. I was expecting a n older audience, but they are evidently very popular with all the young hipsters. Quote
Barking Spiders Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I like the last track and a lovely bass line and tone going on there. Some nice work on the Joannas too but the drumming was a bit meh IMO and the drum faces irked me too. Soz. Quote
