Tracer Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I normally refrain from +1ing stuff, but this thread is fascinating. I wish I had the nuts to be this ambitious with my home recording : ) Quote
tombboy Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Chosen the colour scheme... black ceilings, black tongue & groove with burgundy wallpaper and oak floor. Mrs Tombboy reckons it will look like a brothel, which I'm chuffed about!! Quote

My local pub had a 2yr phase of looking like a brothel inside, not entirely sure why the landlord went for that decoration scheme Quote
tombboy Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Even got a three foot tall stone 'Aphrodite' in the garden which the wife hates. Going to scrub it down, paint it gold and stick it in a corner!! Quote
The Funk Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Superb! Love this entire thread. And just to pick up on something tBBC said, you don't have to be gay to have a rent boy chained to your wall. Quote

tombboy Posted January 23, 2009 Author Posted January 23, 2009 Latest update.... we been a little hampered by all the rain. We have to get the front door watertight, which is proving impossible in this weather. As a result, we cannot lay the floor yet. However, the T&G has been erected and all ceilings and woodwork painted up. Wallpaper goes on tomorrow. Electrics are all supplied now... managed to get 30 amps to the studio which I think is more than enough. More pics when the 'brothel' burgundy paper is up! Quote
budget bassist Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Awesome, 30 amps? You got enough???? Quote
tombboy Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Ok, vocal booth has been lined with carpet tiles to 'deaden' any reverb. Quote

BigBeefChief Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Looking forward to coming round and trying this out. Tombboy says I'm welcome anytime providing I bring a couple of grams of Charlie and a Vietnamese hooker or 3. Quote
Galilee Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 And then spend an afternoon recording your own farts? Is this studio planned as a commercial venture, or purely for personal use? Quote

This will be for personal/our band use only but once I've got the hang of it I'll be offering it out to young local bands (with me supervising/engineering of course) who need to record a demo to get gigs etc. Already got a young lad (family friend) who's at musical tech college and wants to brush up on his engineering skills. No porno shoots..... sorry guys! BTW, wallpapering is all finished, pictures to follow. Looks very.... how can I put his? RED!!!! Quote
