Genz Benz extension cabs

Has anyone used a shuttle cab with the contour combo? Reason for asking is that I have very recently bought a contour 500 and wand to double it up with a cab for gigs. There doesnt seem to be many contour cabs coming up second hand, so I’m wondering if the later shuttle cab would be suitable?

Either that, or maybe I should buy a shuttle rig as I guess the quality and sound would be even better that way?

Should be close enough phase response-wise, but the voicing is somewhat different in the mids. Try it if you can to see if it works for you. Any extension cabinet you use with the Contour should be 8 ohms so you don't go below the minimum 4 ohm total impedance rating of the amp. The Contour cabinet part of the combo is 8 ohms.

I used a 2/10 contour with a 2/10 focus cab. Sounded great & the focus cabs come up for sale often.

I still use two focus 1/12's & am more than happy with them.

The Focus and Contour cabinets are basically identical electro-acoustically, the cosmetics are different.

Makes perfect manufacturing sense!

That was mine, I miss it in some respect, was just a pain to get it in & out of the car!
