Me too! The J-bass bit.

How're you liking it?

Ooo, tell me more??

Mine is one of those "Vintage" brand "Icon" basses, with the maple fretboard. All Wilkinson hardware... Loving it so far! It's so fast to play... all growly and very toppy sounding at the moment... perhaps that's because my amp is set to maximum funk mode!! 😁

Is that one of those old fashioned paper thingies? A "book" or something? 😁  You wanna get over to the P bass thread with that.

Nice :) . Pics or it didn't happen! ;)

Mine - early b-day present from Mrs Teebs: Squier Jazz 70s mod.

Easy to play neck, some nice tones, fab finish for the pennies. Just need to get a white pearl scratchplate & job done! :D

Noooo! 😁

I love it with the black plate, proper 70s. Plus you've got black binding and blocks.

But it ain't my bass is it Guv'nor, so whatever makes ya sun shine Sunshine 😊

I've got same bass, but in a natural finish.

I've modded mine a bit with new pickups , wiring loom and bridge, but even as stock it was a damn fine playing and sounding Jazz Bass.

Sweet Caroline and Footloose (Please don't have a go at me. I'm in a function band - which I think says it all)

Footloose is quite hard

Looks lush in natural - played one in PMT Norwich - lovely bass! :)

Shall be modding mine in due course - bridge, scratchplate, but I quite like the stock tone.

So far only new design Schaller strap locks.

This is mine. Apologies for the dodgy pictures (I was standing on the bed trying to get as much of the bass into the frame as possible - not the most stable platform)

I actually think, visually at least, that swapping the stock metal knobs for classic black plastic ones may be the favourite mod that I made.

Gorgeous bass!

I really like the mods you've made. :)

Mmm... *brain whirrs* 💡

That's lush Mr T. The white looks very nice! (I'd keep the black plate too, but there's nothing wrong with having a couple in different colours). 😎

I wouldn't have chosen the "battlefield" finish for my J, but second hand choices are more limited.

So I now have a false P and a false J for less than 200 quid for the pair... just need some orange paint now!

That's kind of ya mate, but although I've only had the J for two days, that fake roadrash finish is really bothering me. And it needs a pickguard!

Lend the jazz to a guitarist for a bit - genuine wear & tear! ;)

They do look fab!

Maybe I'll put some stickers on it! 👍 What I should do is sand the bugger down and Danish oil the body, but I'm having too much fun slapping the fosters out of it for now. 😁

edit: haha, when I type "fosters" the swear filter changes it to fosters. 😁

edit edit: Buggery is much more rude than just doing a wee. 😪

Naaah, the bass is cool you'll wear it in & it'll be ace! :)

You do know that slapping is the work of the devil 👿? A deviance.

(although the jazz is good for that kind of thing, I'm told... *wanders off whistling innocently*)

This is exactly what I'm playing right now (but have switched to the P bass). C'mon, have a slap, Mr T. 😁

I wonder, Frank - Did you go for the instant gratification of playing the verse riff down by the nut, or the long game of playing it properly at the 7th fret? 😁

Oddly enough for me I did start off playing it down by the nut (I play higher up the neck usually) but my tutor soon had me up on the 7th!
