Prices aren't outrageous (quite sensible for some) but I really don't get the 3-pickup thing.

I think a couple of these creations have been posted here before. I quite like the wonky-looking Westone type one for some reason, it rides that fine line between completely janky and a recognisable bass.

A lot of amateur custom basses seem to have those badly cut bits of DVD cases for control plates, I guess you could say it compliments the c0ck-eyed lines of the body?

 

I've had another look and I think my parents had a wardrobe made of that exact wood when I was a kid.

 

EDIT- What "c0ck-eyed" is picked up by the swear filter? I guess this site is racist against northerners now, be banning whippets and racing pigeons next.

I was actually quite impressed by the control panels. I think it must take a lot of skill and patience, when lacking the correct tools, to be able to chew the plastic into a suitable shape.

Obviously, I don’t know what these sound like, but I played a 3-p-pup Maruszczyk Bass once. Fugly, but an amazing range of sounds for a fully passive instrument.
