Delberthot Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I don't recall the prices coming down when the interest rates improved but they're putting them up now they've got worse. I smell sh*te Quote
Machines Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Looks like they only want the margins to go one way.. Quote
Geddys nose Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I suppose there's a marketing angle on the old 'Reassuringly Expensive' angle its what Rickenbacker did. Quote

(NB - Not a slag-off - I like them lots. But don't own one.) Quote
Machines Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Fender will for a long time run off their reputation. I don't think there's many people who will pretend that Fender are 'up there' in the industry as far as quality and value for money is concerned. The fact that you see them being played by most bands on TV means they will always be the bass to desire for kids who want to learn. Quote
Paul Cooke Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 It's not helping the shops though... they're having enough problems shifting stock at the existing prices without Fender jamming the price up... My local shop told me on the Friday before that the prices were going up on the Monday morning... had I had the money spare, I'd have had them set me one aside by paying a deposit on one... I'm not sure what the position is on set-asides though, would I have been paying the difference between the deposit and the price at set-aside, or the difference between the deposit and the current price on final pickup? Tee Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Has Fender sacked workers by any chance? (everyone else seems to have in this current climate). Perhaps they will be reducing output from the factories and have stuck prices up? Quote
