fretlessguy Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Excellent! Enjoy your new bass. Great sounding band, by the way. Quote
Dan Dare Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 I've just dribbled down my shirt. Lovely instrument. Quote
wateroftyne Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 Cheers all! Here's a clip from my NYE gig. It LOVES flats, and really growls when you dig in. Quote

bassbiscuits Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Good work. That's lovely. I can only manage the CBS-era version. Glad to see you're gigging it too. Quote
therealting Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Lovely. Had my 64 out gigging over Christmas - these basses need to be played. Are those Thomastik Jazz Flats you’ve got on? Quote

wateroftyne Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Quick update - the bass' previous owner has been in touch. He'd owned it since 1982 - he was glad to see that I'm gigging it, and it's not just hanging it on a wall. It was nice to find out a bit more about its history. 3 Quote
Jaybeevee Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Can I ask how it's going with the P? I'm sitting poised on pulling the trigger on a mid 60's P.. Can you share you thoughts on tone, feel and playability please? any comparisons. Anything you have learned from the experience Cheers Quote

Anything you have learned from the experience Cheers If you are confident that the one you're looking at, is all original and everything functions as it should, then you almost certainly won't be disappointed. I've owned a 66, 63 and a 62, each and everyone was exceptionally good. The timber used on the fretboards is rather lovely, bodies are generally light and resonant. The pickups deliver plenty of punch and can do mellow/warm to full on aggressive attack. Quote

It sounds fantastic, but I couldn't say how much - if any - of it is down to special early 60s sauce. It's just a great sounding P. I got lucky. Quote
Ade on Bass Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Beautiful instrument! It couldn’t have found a more deserving home either. Your contribution to this forum has been tremendous, and I’m sure I’m not alone in being delighted for you! Onwards and upwards! 👍🏻 Quote
