Painy
I recently bought a Sterling Ray 25CA which I'm liking a lot but I fancy trying it with some flats. I want to get a bit of that flatwound thump and punch but without losing too much of the Stingray bite. At the moment I'm thinking of EB Cobalts as they seem the obvious choice to fit the bill but I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has any? Lozz196
I tried a Ray with Cobalt flats on and it played and sounded great, would prob be my first choice.
Chiliwailer
I’m a fan of Cobalts, but have actually just taken a set of my Stingray Special only today. They are great flats for those who prefer rounds, but in my experience D’Addario Chromes on a Stingray is a great flatwound if you want to stick to a regular flats type vibe, but still have some treble and punch.

danny-79
Got EB Cobalt flats on my active Jazz. They have the flat thump while still retaining some bite. They are a pretty good compromise I use Elixirs on every thing else though so ......
Dan Dare
Agree with Chiliwailer that D'Addario Chromes are worth trying. They work very well on a J bass and can do bright/crisp if needed. Relatively cheap, too.
