Has Nordstrand Big Single(I think) pickups and a Nordstrand onboard pre-amp. The stock plastic knobs have been swapped out for black steel knobs bought from the John East website(original knobs supplied on request). Serial no: 195 Lightweight instrument(3.7kg). 34.5” scale. binky_bass Posted January 16, 2019 Share Posted January 16, 2019 I owned a 6 string custom Nordstrand some time ago, and Binky (my 10 string bass) has Nordstrand pickups custom made by Carey himself, his work is outstanding and the build quality is impecible. I had acquired a set of Nordstrand jazz bass pups second hand but un-used, however they didn’t fit in my bass so I mailed Nordstrand to see if there was any solution I could try, they offered to wind me a new set in exchange for the set I had, I had to pay postage and the difference in model price(which was a small fee), I was very happy with this result. binky_bass Posted January 16, 2019 Share Posted January 16, 2019 Carey is a genuinely good guy, I sent him an essay on what I wanted the pickups to sound like for my 10 string, and he did exactly that... when Binky was eventually delivered, I plugged him in and true to his word he wound pickups that met almost exactly the description I sent him!
