The basic jist was:

I'm holding a gig at my pub, we've done it before, expecting about 300 people. I haven't set a date yet. I'd like some bands to apply to play, but I'm not looking to pay them anything. Something about free drinks and food

Nowt up with that, if people want to play for free then they can do. There's a town near us where the pubs pay between £120 and £150 for a band, maybe £200 if they know you will pack the place. There's a circuit of bands who play them, a 4 or 5 piece band playing for £30 each the same to me as doing a free gig and getting a few pints and food thrown in.

 

Usually cheap/free bands are a terrible noise though.
