I liked the pickup switch (rather than a blend), but I didn't really need the J sound so I sold both of them. If I did need that sound, they'd be somewhere near the top of my list. One of your vids is on the Bass Direct page for the s/h one...! Quote

I have no idea who he is, but his fretless PJ looks sweet. Tony is awesome, he has a fretless tuition course on TrueFire that's great too. The Tony Franklin fretless is my dream bass, I'm currently, though painfully slowly saving up for a black one. I keep trying to find a cheaper alternative but nothing touches it. dmccombe7 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Quite fancied the fretted version but i currently have a PJ so not really worth having two of the same for me anyways. I prefer my basses to be different and have different sounds to play with. Dave Quote
super al Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I'm a bit of a Roy Harper fan and they worked together on 'Jugula' with Jimmy Page. Some of TF's gentler fretless work on RH's albums. Astonishing 80s hair, wonderful fretless playing and a love for perfectly ripe avocados! Quote
Billy Boy Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Such a nice bass, sold my Fretted Tony Franklin last year due to financial problems. Keen to buy another or the fretless. I see loads of videos of Tony playing different fretless basses live, he always uses his fretless Fender on sessions. Maybe he wanted to keep that bass for session work and use bashers for the road.
