Ampeg 810E....now which head?!

Ampeg CL VS SVT-3?

Ok, totally different amps, totally different volume. Whats the general opinion of what these amps sound like through an 810E?

If you've got the cash then go for the CL. If you've got a really heavy cab then I'm guessing that you won’t mind a really heavy head. There’s nothing like the sound that an Ampeg 8x10 produces when it’s being driven by an all valve Ampeg head. It's the way it’s meant to be I’m afraid

I've used an SVT3 and it sounded great. I also have a DVD of the Meters and George Porter is using a GK head with his Ampeg 8x10. Try a few different amps and see what fits.

I would go with the CL if I had to choose between the two, however the best bass tone I've ever heard through an Ampeg 810E was with an Orange AD-200B / Mk3. It sounded ball breakingly good.
