Guest aDx Posted January 18, 2019 Share Posted January 18, 2019 I have always wanted to try an Ampeg SVT amd and 8x10 cab, but cost always denied me At the studio we rehearse in they have one, so I thought I would try it (always usually take my Markbass rig) and..... Wow! its sooooo LOUD! and heavy... I could hardly lift the amp! all in all tho.... prefer my Markbass rig!! lol oh well.... and my strap lock button fell out of my bass!!!! eek! Skinnyman Posted January 18, 2019 Share Posted January 18, 2019 As I've had a few "fulfilled" dreams myself, I was expecting this to be a very different thread, given the title. But, to stay on topic, i also had a go with an SVT and 8x10 at our local rehearsal room and was also left a bit underwhelmed. I wonder if they sound better in a decent sized venue at gig volumes rather than in a rehearsal room where - even though they sound loud - they're not being stretched enough to sound their best. Owen Posted January 18, 2019 Share Posted January 18, 2019 I did some work where they were provided once. They were nice, but when one was not working and they put me into a big sidefill. Lozz196 Posted January 18, 2019 Share Posted January 18, 2019 Imo on a big stage, in the mix, they’re the daddy, simply cannot be best. But in a rehearsal room, or played solo I find them a bit meh.
