Slappindabass
So ...... I have just purchased from Japan a really nice Yamaha PB400M Black Maple.....whilst perusing I also came across this.... Greco PB450 Mercury Bass So opinions Lovely old Relic or damp twisted doggy mess. I am going to plump for the latter. Even though this level of relic seems to be worth a lot of money!😂🤣😎 Edited January 18, 2019 by Slappindabass Spellinh
Grangur
A PB500 went on eBay for $399.00 https://www.ebay.com/itm/GRECO-Spacy-Sound-PB500-P-Bass-Guitar-Japan-Vintage-1980/233088120356?hash=item3645227624:g:fuEAAOSwMflcNq~8 That one would appear to have been slightly exposed to moisture more than the PB500. So, I'd be sceptical about how flat the neck would be. If it's <£100 I'd enjoy giving it a clean up. But not worth paying to ship from Japan, if that's the case. IMHO. Someone will be along in a minute, who'll be telling us it's worth £1000s.
Slappindabass
It will owe me £70.00 landed so not really to worried just thought it was a bit of a giggle! The body looks useable at least.😀
Ghost_Bass
Naaa, not relic, moisture damage. Maybe it lived in a costal area near an allways open window. I doubt that the tunners and bridge can be adjust with so much rust. Neck doesn't look good, chances are that the truss-rod may also be shot. Don't want to imagine how the electronics must look like... How much do you get asked for a P neck and scratchplate in the classifieds? If this bass is cheaper than that, then it may be worth the risk of trying to bring it to life.

Will we get a topic in the build diaries? I would love to follow this. Cheers

Was it Jason Momoa's take on a short "scale" "bass"?

Lozz196
It looks a bit sorry for itself but I’ve seen these go for between £300 & £500. At £70 has to be worth a punt.
Roger2611
At £70.00 you are not going to go far wrong, I once owned a 79 Precision with a neck that looked much like that and it was probably the best playing Precision I ever owned! Slappindabass
Well the neck really was shot....but i kinda fell in love with it. So in the spirit of triggers broom. Brand new hosco neck(lovely) Kiogon Loom(lovely) new custom shop 62 pickups(sweet) Evwry thing else is original. The body was battered to hell so did not feel guilty having a bit of fun with it. Painted the origing pick guard. Not to every ones taste but really enjoyes doing. Partically trying to make the brand new unfinishe neck look nearly 40 years old. Plays sweet.
