Bigwan Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 (edited) Surely I'm not the only person who's seen this... https://www.prymaxe.com/products/tech-21-geddy-lee-signature-sansamp-yyz-bass-pre-amp Edited January 12, 2019 by Bigwan 3 Quote
intime-nick Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 (edited) Oh, cool. At least they’ve put it in a ‘proper’ case and not that ghastly one with the cheap and wobbly control pots they use for the fly-rig / dug preamp. Will be interested to hear it and how it differs from my Sansamp bass driver pedals. Edited January 12, 2019 by intime-nick Quote
Lozz196 Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 That’s a very interesting pedal methinks. Not a particular Rush/GL fan but I do like his tone. I just wonder how much we’ll get stuffed for it. Quote
Cuzzie Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 They were pretty reasonable with the DP3X price, and it’s listed as $199 so I reckon it will be ok. And if it doesn’t have things like a tuner it may come in cheaper than the dUg pedal. I presume it will also have an xlr out. surely I don’t need another dirt box Quote

Cuzzie Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 I wasn’t sure about the XLR out as you say, because Geddy is without an amp as we know. Instead of going down the DP3X, fly rig route then, it’s just Geddy in a box. Not bothered either way if they have it nailed as it will be good Quote
ezbass Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 I can’t understand why it isn’t on the Tech21 webpage. Quote
Cuzzie Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 If I remember right they tend not to launch the webpage until it’s been NAMMed and ready to go, or at least imminent to ship 1 Quote

PatrickJ Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 (edited) Ooh, I'd been thinking about a VT Bass for some classic rock tones for the covers band. Think I'll hold off a while and have a look at these when they are released. Edited January 14, 2019 by PJ-Bassist Quote
The59Sound Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Geddy is known for being DI only so why release a signature preamp pedal without a DI? Quote
Geek99 Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 He does like his signature stuff doesn’t he Quote
wateroftyne Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Presumably that sketch of him was done just as Neil told him he was retiring. Quote
Cuzzie Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 @The59Sound only logic I can think is that you have the rackmount/Preamp, therefore for those that want that sound, but use a board and don’t like a fly rig type thing, it’s a pretty reasonable option 1 Quote
Rollin Thunder Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 betty swollocks, just bought a Tech21 Vt as well, probably would have bought this instead, but the VT as a di and this does not. slightly of subject anybody got settings for a geddy tone on a VT. Quote

dannybuoy Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Form factor is more like the VT Bass and character pedals than the VTDI / BDDI, etc. Shame it was missed though but not the end of the world. Guess it keeps costs down! Quote
Cuzzie Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Do we actually know if it has a DI or not considering we have not seen any proper pictures, videos or reviews. Its a guess based on its form factor. Quote

Cuzzie Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Aye tis true, most desks can accept a balanced or unbalanced signal, and I am sure between the player and the venue there will be a DI box if required Quote
ubit Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 I apologise if anyone has mentioned this before. I have only just found out about it. I'm assuming its getting showcased at NAMM and hopefully will be on sale soon after that. Dear Santa...... 1 Quote
musicbassman Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 For those technophobe BCers like me not suffering from perpetual GAS, please could you explain what this is, what you hope it might do, and why it's important ? I'm not being sarcastic, I'd genuinely like to know. 2 Quote
