claustra
NOW SOLD And soon to be dropped in London. You like a P bass, but still, you want MORE ? Up for grabs is this Vantage VP710B, made in the Matsumoku factory in June 1980. I'll give more details and add better quality pictures asap. All original (not sure about the truss rod cover as it is blank, but looks original) The body has some dings and scratches, the neck is in excellent condition, frets are fine too. PLEASE NOTE that the nut is loose when you take the strings off, it would need a little glue, but works absolutely fine. 3 way selector, 2 volumes and 2 tones. The neck pickup for the D & G strings is roughly where the Reverse P of the Yamaha BBs is located, which sounds sweet. Not too heavy (less than 4.3kg, I'll double check) Located in Northern France by the ports. Shipping is not a problem, I have a sturdy chipboard box, and would cost £25 to £40 I guess. Please check my feedback, no worries. Sorry for the low quality pics, but this is an impulsive sale. Edited January 23, 2019 by claustra

claustra
I do not know how they did that, but the Dimarzios do behave on this bass, not as aggressive as others I've had a chance to try, but the output is still higher than on a Fender P. A chance to get a free bass for the price of the pickups :) Edited January 21, 2019 by claustra adding detail

lee650
My first bass (Well second) was the single pickup version of this! It was fantastic and i believe the pickups are dimarzios they certainly look like them! I'd be tempted for nostalgias sake,i replaced my Vantage with an Ibanez musician 😁

Just like my BC Rich Eagle which also has the twin Dimarzio P p/up arrangement.. and they sound great together! GLWTS
claustra
They sound good indeed, and the two volume pots allow some endless adjustments.
Bassassin
Always wanted an MIJ P/P, still not managed to get my hands on one! Only thing putting me off this (aside from lack of space) is the symmetrical body - I know it'd neck-dive just like my Kasuga Scorpion & Westbury Track 2 do! BTW not 100% sure - but I don't think these will be Dimarzio pickups, most of the cream-coloured hex-pole units on Matsumoku & other MIJ basses were very good DiM clones. Easy way to check is to stick an Allen key in a pole piece - DiMarzios are US Imperial sizes so a metric key won't fit. Lovely bass, @claustra - GLWTS! atsampson
Nice. I do like these kinds of designs - sort of elegantly brutal!
claustra
@Bassassin I'll try the Allen key test and let you know, thanks for the tip. The balance is rather alright by the way.
starsar
Hey, is this still available? I really shouldn’t but it is an old favourite of mine...
claustra
NOW ON HOLD @Bassassin, the Allen key fits, so the adjustable poles are metric indeed. That might be why they do not sound too aggressive (that, and the set neck and the woods, and maybe the strings, and the height of the pickups or my subjectivity...) claustra
I might have set the price too low, or at least just right
