Chewie Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Hello groovers, Im in the market for a new strap. I fancy nice leather...... Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.... Chewie Quote
jacko Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Levys. I've had three (one for each bass) for near enough 15 years. Little sign of wear and comfortable for a 12Lb Alembic. Quote
uk_lefty Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Right on straps! I got one from Manson's in Exeter. Leather strap, Spanish made, has a little slot for two picks at the end where you connect to the guitar body. Very comfortable, I've got it on my Stingray. Nice colours too. Mine was about £35. 1 Quote
6feet7 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 These - I've got the widest ones and they are perfect for me (and I've tried loads of different ones over the years) http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Maruszczyk_straps.html 2 1 Quote
franzbassist Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) German makers Harvest Leather and Richter have been my go to makes, but I recently discovered Pinegrove here in the UK, who do very nice work. Edited January 25, 2019 by franzbassist Quote
LeftyJ Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I'm a huge fan of Italia Leather from California, I have several. Fair pricing, made to order, thick leather, and choice of a smooth glove leather back or a rough suede back that will stick to your shoulder. I love them. They have loads of special deals for repeat customers too, by email almost on a weekly basis. Quote
T-Bay Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Hypnotic straps from Poland are fantastic quality and cheaper than a lot of the alternatives, wide range of styles. I have five of them. 2 Quote
antnee Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I bought this 3 years ago and it's never missed a beat, only use for practise though. Lovely quality, would buy again. Quote
Guest oZZma Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I use a very wide leather strap for my neck diving bass... Custom Style, fine quality and fair price Quote
PatrickJ Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) I've got two Heistercamp straps - handmade in Devon. I like them both but the padded Onyx one is particularly comfy. 7 hours ago, uk_lefty said: Right on straps! I got one from Manson's in Exeter. Mine was about £3 I've also got a Right On strap that I picked up at Bassdirect . That is on my heaviest bass, it's nice and wide with some padding. Distributes the weight well and was about 1/2 the price of the Heistercamp ones. Edited January 25, 2019 by PJ-Bassist Quote
mingsta Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Have a look at bearstraps, he makes custom straps for not much more than an off the shelf jobbie. Really thick, nice quality leather that will last you a lifetime. I'll put up some pics of mine when I get a spare moment. Quote
Strawbs664 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Another vote for Hypnotic straps. Loads of choice & reasonably priced. 1 Quote

Fionn Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Can anyone recommend me a strap with a smooth inside that doesn’t stick to the shoulder? Straps with a suede or rough leather finish grip too much. I’m after something that slides over my shoulder, instead of pulling the neck of my t-shirt half way down my chest. Quote

Lovely strap, too. 2 Quote
