Guest Marcoelwray
Hi people, I'm looking for proper rulers, steel.... I can find that anywhere but I have big troubles to find rulers with a centered 0. I find these really useful, but I only found Chinese rulers on weird websites... Anyone may help with that? bertbass
It was instilled in me at a very early age that it is a wooden ruler and a steel rule. It would be plastic ruler now though. Must be something here that fits the bill. https://www.tilgear.info/hand-tools/measuring-inspection/rules-and-tapes/rules-straight-edges?page={page}
Si600
If you care it's because the scale on rule starts at the end, the measurement starts at the nut for an analogy, a ruler has the scale starting after the end, like a zero fret to continue the theme It's possible, but unlikely, to have a plastic rule or a steel ruler
Andyjr1515
Looks like Axminster do them.... https://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-precision-centre-finding-rule-ax962205 Never seen them before but they look a useful bit of kit
Si600
I didn't know they were a thing, but now I do, I want one. I've got no use for it, but hey, is RAS a thing?
Guest Marcoelwray
@Andyjr1515 thanks! Indeed it's a tool for lazy People who doesn't want to do maths. No need to really divide by two, you just visually adjust the 0.... I like that.
Jabba_the_gut
I was just about to post the link to Axminster then realised Andy had already done it. I have a plastic centre finding ruler, which has been really useful, but I'm going to order one of these now!! Cheers
Jabba_the_gut
I think Axminster might have a sudden surge in interest in these looking at the above posts!! I've bought a few things from them (router cutters etc) and been pleased with the quality and service.

One of those rulers is on my list too. I've used the backtooth blades once when they were out of stock of plain backed ones. Quite useful if you do a lot of cuts where, because of size or shape, you need to reverse the wood to back out from where you have just cut half way through so that you can then come in from the other end to finish the cut. It makes the problem of pulling the blade out of its guide bearings less of an issue.
honza992
Ooh I'm in for (another) centre zero'd ruler...rule.... Whichever. My last ruler I managed to cut in half using my radial arm saw. Did a neat job, I have to say, but made measuring things slightly more annoying.....
