Guest aDx
Probably been asked before but how much do other peeps charge for a gig? Rock/pop covers. Approximately 1-1.5 hour show.
musicbassman
Anything from £5 plus a drink to £500 plus expenses. A lot more information required - Type of band, Type of gig, Size of venue, Size of band, Playing level of band, (keen amateur, dad rock, semi pro, pro) How much you would guess they're being paid, How far away it is, How long you'll actually have to spend hanging around at the venue (can be a problem with weddings and functions) How much rehearsal time (if any) required, How much you'd like to do the gig (prestige, possibility of permanent position, other musos in the audience looking for a bass player) That'll do for a start... 🙂
Guest aDx
rock/pop covers large hall, charity gig but others are just normal 5 piece band good level of playing (some semi pro) 5 miles away for me but 20 miles for others good grief! so many questions! i feel like i am being interviewed! :) just want a ball park figure for how much (roughly) do others charge (average)
Dad3353
We charge nothing for a similar formation and/or event, but that may spoil your averages.
stingrayPete1977
I don't do charity gigs anymore, Never been paid or thanked for one.
skidder652003
Where you based? Think around £250 -300 for pub gigs but you got to have a decent reputation to command that kind of money week in week out. If you're starting out, aim a little lower to get established but don't stay too low or you'll drag the rest of us down! Yeah don't do chridee gigs anymore either (thankless task)

Ah! - when i wrote this I thought you were asking about an individual muso doing a dep gig, not a whole band !! For a band doing a charity event the organisers are going to expect a 'special' rate, and it depends whether you have an interest in supporting the charity concerned. But it's reasonable for the promoters to make at least a token payment to cover some of the expenses and travelling time . If they won't do that then I would wave goodbye - after all, they wouldn't expect to get a hall hire or caterers for free, would they ? BTW, I think skidder652003 is about right for pub gigs - with a few exceptions, there's not much money left in that sort of business now. thepurpleblob
We're reasonably "bedded in" and in the Glasgow area we get 200 to 250 quid in pubs. Generally speaking, I won't touch charity gigs.
steantval
We are a four piece rock covers band, our fees this year are a minimum of £240.
Guest aDx
Well. Gave them some samples of last gig. And a song list. Getting £400+ food and drinks. And a possible Xmas booking. Happy.
