Grangur Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Hi, I'm thinking of restoring a blue Corvette. If it's to stay blue then I need a translucent blue that isn't gloss. Any ideas anyone? Quote
BassBunny Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 I got a sample of the blue from here and it looks pretty similar to the colour you are after. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WOOD-DYE-Morrells-Water-Based-Wood-stain-non-toxic-choice-of-colour-100ml/323315016711?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=512379629602&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 1 Quote
dyerseve Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 alternatively, email Warwick and they will probably tell you exactly what they use - let them know the serial number of the bass as well just in case. who knows, they may be able to sell you some or tell you where you can buy it 1 Quote

I also have a mate who's a professional sprayer of wood and furniture. So he could be a good guy to know. He'd also do a great job. Even though it would cost. But the finish would be far better than any rattle-can job... if I do it. Quote

I thought the boss had spoken and you are now not going to refinish this one? Btw, it will be a dye you rub on, not something you will spray on - At least AFAIK 1 Quote

Guest Marcoelwray Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Hi Rich, Indeed Warwick is probably the best company to contact for very good info about the colour. BUT, if you don't care about the EXACT colour, just use a water based colour before the standard oilind/waxing finish, like this: https://www.emma-music.com/teinture-liquide-noire-pour-vernis-stewart-mac-donald,fr,4,T-NIT-480060.cfm Quote
