Saw this just now. Apart from being attacked by woodworm, there's something dodgy about it to me. Not sure what, but the wear on it seems too excessive. Could be completely wrong - I'd like to see the neck and neck pocket stampings before I even set off to take a look at it in the flesh ...

Look closer, this is a badly done relic job. There is a DVD talking about it (I have it somewhere) and every step has been over respected just like staining the neck. Awful !!!

So, any ideas what the base bass (sorry :D) might have been for this relicing attempt? The thing that got my attention was that some of the dents on the body look like what you get when (if) you hit a poly finish with something...

I reckon you are bang on about the dents. One thing is for sure - it's not been done to something valuable!

I saw this a few days ago as I’m looking for an early 70s jb , the neck binding seems to be in fairy good condition compared to the body , which to me looked like it had been deliberately reliced also there’s what looks like a crack at the neck pocket, the seller said it’s all original as far as he knows.

Might be an OK 70's Fender, but certainly not all original (e.g., neck worn/neck binding unworn etc). At the price it would have to be a magical instrument to tempt anyone seriously, and even so there's always going to be problems should you need to sell it down the line.
