Yorkshire Bass Bash - 15th Feb '09 (NOON - 5 PM)

As I have the time to do this, and following some encouragement from jake_tenfloors and Yorks5stringer, I am going ahead with sorting out a Yorkshire Bass Bash for February.

I have found a good venue in Harrogate. It is a snooker club which has an adjoining events hall. It has a bar, sandwiches, plenty of free parking, no stairs, and we can have it for free on Sundays, noon to 5pm. That's on the understanding that we leave it as we find it and he does some business over the bar (BigBeefChief – that’s your job).

The room itself is large and square. It is carpeted except for the wooden dance floor and stage. Gigs are held there. Tables and chairs can be put out whilst rigs can be set up around the edges.

So, the only thing to do is to agree a date.

15th would be easiest for me. I have a gig on the 8th, but don't particularly plan around me as I don't have any fancy gear to show anyway!

Feb 8th best for me as gigging on 14th and 21st and I'm always wasted the day after a gig (no energy)

Not sure when we're next due to play Harrogate Blues bar - but there's an outside chance I could tie this in for after the bash then anyone who wanted my job for a song or 2 could come have a jam with my band.

15 and 22 are in half term. Could be ok but it will depend on the rest of the family. 1 and 8 fine.

Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst, I am prepared to help clean up after any little accidents we might have
I offer that to make up for not having any exciting skills or kit to show off

c.8 walk from Hornbeam Park. If carrying gear, I dare say someone will give you a lift, but we can sort that out nearer the time. I hope you make it!

At its most basic, some folk will bring their rigs, FX and basses, others will come just to look and maybe have a go.

If anyone 'in the trade' wants to exhibit, do set-ups, etc. they are welcome, by prior arrangement. It's all free, except the bar.

Suggestions for making the day more interesting, are also welcomed.

if you'r gonna be stuck for a lift give me a shout. i may not have a car by then (damn credit crunch) but we do live next to a train station and (i assume its) the manhattan is net to a trian station! just dont try lug your ampeg on it!

Re inviting Mr Shuker:

I think Jon's customers would prefer he spends his waking hours building their basses: knowing how hard he works I'd suspect he would politely decline the request. Maybe I should start a poll, should we invite JS?
