ZilchWoolham
There's Shakespears Sister named after Shakespeare's Sister, I'd argue the best single by The Smiths. In turn named after A Room of One's Own, the essay by Virginia Woolf with which it seems to have little in common.

Unknown_User
I think a band from the early noughties called Pretty Girls Make Graves were apparently named after a Smiths song. I don't know anything about the Smiths though so I might be wrong!

jacko
The majority of Grateful Dead tribute bands name themselves after song lyrics. I was in Wildflower seed (from Frankllin's tower) for a while.

Is that genuine? I was a big fan of the Lightning Seeds in my formative years and I (obviously mistakenly) thought Prince sang "lightning seeds" in that song. silverfoxnik
Good thread.. 😊 Late 80s Rock/Rap band The Chiefs of Relief took their name from a lyric in the Grandmaster Flash song 'It's Nasty Genius of Love)'.. And Stephen 'TinTin' Duffy's group The Lilac Time took inspiration for their name from lyrics in the chorus of Nick Drake's song 'River Man'. geoham
When I was a lad, I named my first band ‘The Eccentrics’, after the line in She’s Electric by Oasis. A great name I thought....we played a few school shows before going out separate ways.
