uk_lefty Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I've got a Fender MIJ 1970 Precision reissue (alder bodied). It's a cracking bass that I really enjoy playing. It currently has a Steve Harris signature pickup that I really like and appreciate however I wouldn't mind getting it closer to the authentic sound for the year. Question is, which pickup would give me that tone? I've had a look at Fender and Seymour Duncan but suspect there are others out there.... Unless this was an era of "generic p bass tone" rather than anything distinct! Quote
Lozz196 Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I’d try Hot Rod (who used to be Wizard) their 70s style pickup was very similar to my 70s Precisions that I had. 1 Quote
Steve Browning Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I used to replace the stock pickup on my Japanese basses with Kent Armstrong Alnico vintage Pbass pickups. They sounded just right to my ears. Quote
