Hobbayne
Whats the average waiting time to have your own bass built to your own specs?
Hutton
I waited four months.
ead
Mine was about that, maybe slightly less.
NancyJohnson
I've always been curious about these. Are they scratch built or just bolted together from AllParts style parts?

Wind their own pickups too. Certainly seem to have hit on a decent formula! Edited February 8, 2019 by Bigwan
wateroftyne
Two months for mine, but that was ordered in 2017. Dunno what the lead time is now. Totally worth the wait, tho.
walshy
Aye great basses, real value for money!
Dazed
Even better value second hand - although the original owners seem to abuse them heavily 😜 Edited February 8, 2019 by Dazed

Dazed
Yeah they don’t plummet as much as a fender might.
Hobbayne
I am after a 1963 Sonic Blue P Bass. Not to heavily reliced with a faded almost mint green pickguard. Yes, an AVRI lookalike. Something like this. I have emailed Mark and he can do exactly what I,m looking for in about 12 weeks for a lot cheaper than I imagined.
knicknack
I believe average is about 12 weeks at the moment. The bodies and neck come from Allparts but the guys really seem to have a knack for making them sing... the tone is there acoustically and plugged in they sound awesome. Big fan here!
wateroftyne
I was under their impression they built their own bodies..? Maybe not.

Woodinblack
I was sort of thinking about one. I don't really normally like fenders, and am not that bothered about vintage, but today I played a 1965 Jazz bass with flats on it, and TBH, it was one of the nicest fenders I had ever played, i would be more than happy to have something like that, but it was a little bit more money than I would want to pay (ok, rephrasing, it was 5x the amount I would like to pay!), and it occured to me it would be a bit of a liability, too expensive to take anywhere, but I wouldn't want to play with all the metal on and frankly the pots could do with replacing (and I know you can't do that sort of stuff)
Hobbayne
I have put my order in with mark. Does he give you regular updates on progress? Or do you not hear anything till its ready. I would quite like to see some work in progress pics.

lou24d53
Never saw this thread before, but coincidentally I emailed the other day there asking about cost for these (never thought to ask time!) as I'm thinking about going for one based on John Entwistle's Frankenstein 65 P, Fiesta Red, Maple Neck...just need to move a few things on first to finance...that sonic blue P you've just ordered though @Hobbayne...Oooooft.... police squad
Here's a gratuitous picture of my wife's Bravewood '63 in Daphne blue. Un-reliced and unplayed these days as she's not gigging atm. The limelights look incredible too
wateroftyne
Since getting mine, I've been lucky enough to acquire beautiful (real) '73 and '63 P's. Technically I should now sell my Limelight, but I can't part with it. It's just too wonderful. 3
Bassman Sam
Is it possible to spec a Limelight un-reliced?
lou24d53
I don't think so, in my email the other day I enquired about one "unreliced if possible" and Mark's reply was "we could do a very light relic"... Hobbayne
In their website blurb Mark says something along the lines of 'players who want the sound, feel and look of a vintage instrument'. I didnt know that he started out as a cheaper option to Nash.
