NBD - Shorter Short Scale

I have been off-loading some basses recently as I plan to move house but as part of this consolidation plan, I have a  acquired a new gem from ACG. It's a new scale length that Alan's been working on and I think it just suits me perfectly and the sound is amazing from such a short scale - 26.5".

Is this new start of a new wave of short scale basses?

I’m loving it. And the sound is much bigger than you’d expect.

It is indeed, I had a little go on the prototype last time I was up in Moffat.  I did completely wimp out though and ended up with the 32" scale Border Reiver that Alan was selling.

I've always been intrigued by the possibility of a "guitar" scale length bass.

What guage strings are on that?

115 - 50 strings, the tension feels right and it’s the easiest bass I’ve played (and I’ve just sold a Rob Allen Mouse)

Nope the Krell is a guitar shape that’s evolved into a bass. So it’s sits well for seated and it’s balanced for standing playing.

Sorry that was aimed at @ead - bit of a thread derail!

Yes, I spec’d that one for Alan to build me. The nylon wounds strings are amazing and it feels awesome. Love Finns.

I have a double cut Finn 4, 32” scale which is basically the same woods. And I may have possibly commissioned a 5 string sister for her... 😇
