songofthewind Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 I like it. Perhaps because he grooves like a mutha on it. Quote

bigsmokebass Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 It is growing on me the more I see it but something about a headless, 6 string bass that doesn't seem very 'Yamaha' or 'Nathan East' to me 😅 Downfall for me, would be the price tag. His BB is already £3k+... So unless is going to be a ridiculously cheap Japanese bass or something, it's probably something that's a one off. Hell of a good video though 😉👌🏻 what a guy. Quote

M@23 Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 He's already got The Sexiest Bass Ever™️ in the BBNE2. It's cool to see something different. Quote
mattbass6 Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 So fugly. Great player though, obviously. The design and weight don't seem to make much sense to me but hey, I don't have to play it. Guesses on price? £4k I reckon....... Quote

Which means that most of us don't have to play it either. Edited February 12, 2019 by mangotango making more sense. 1 Quote

The design and weight make some sense.. my experiences with headless basses (Status Streamline and Hohner B2A) suggest that some mass is desirable in terms of tone (they were obviously too light) The original Steinbergers were much heavier and sound better to my ears. None of the ultra minimalist designs are as good when seated as a regular bass. Quote
spectoremg Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 It isn't a cutaway, it's a black hole, hence the weight. Quote
Dood Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 It's beautiful. Oh and it's a six string headless.. which is, of course right up my street! 1 Quote

This one is 16.5mm spacing and we were careful not to get that ‘thing’ with some headless basses where the end of the neck is a little further away than a standard ‘headed’ bass. So I think you’ll probably find the 34” scale here pretty spot on. 1 Quote
40hz Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 That might actually be worse looking than a Bongo. 2 2 Quote
EBS_freak Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 I love it! And top end Yamahas are brilliantly made. I'm actually looking forward to seeing one in the flesh. Could be on my next bass list. 3 Quote

Lfalex v1.1 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 No need for extra "compression", then... Quote
ped Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 I think it's pretty cool, personally - also don't think 10lbs (4.5kg) is THAT bad, for a six string. It probably 'wears' really well (for Nathan, at least). Good for him for getting something a bit out of the ordinary. FWIW I think headless basses look much better with a futuristic body style like this. 1 Quote
