JMT3781 Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 (edited) Hello Basschat community! Itâs the Classic story... Iâm looking to move on two of my instruments, to make room for one special one! Not that the two Iâm going to shift arenât special... but you know đ. So hereâs number one of a two part post! Its a 1986 Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray Fretless! Itâs been part of my collection since 2016. The bass comes complete with a case that I believe is original, it has a Musicman sticker on it but I realise that this could have been stuck on! From seeing other basses of this age it looks correct to me. So the bass! Itâs everything youâd expect of a bass of this age. The body has the dings youâd expect of a used instrument, but they certainly give it character. The Lacquer on the body has that beautiful crazed effect of age. The fingerboard is in good condition for the age, some string marks but nothing that affects playability (See photos). This is partly due to a previous owner having a carbon fibre neck made for the Bass, meaning the original was a spare for quite some time. The tortoishell guard is one I bought for it, bought from stringsandthings the U.K. Musicman distributor. The original black one will be supplied with bass. The electronics are good considering the age, a little clunky and not super quiet, but once you hit the sweet spot the classic Musicman growl is there, youâll have no trouble getting lost in the mix for sure! The bridge is complete with the foam mutes, with the screws still turning to get them into position. These add another dimension to the sound if required, really cool. Currently strung up with a set of Rotosound Adrian Harris Flatwounds which are a great heavy flat wound set. Priced at ÂŁ1000.00, payable by cash or bank transfer. I can ship not trouble via UPS, which Iâm happy to cover. Bass is available to try in Walsall, West Midlands. Trade wise... Iâm only interested in a early 70âs Jazz or a custom shop Jazz, which would obviously involve cash in the other parties direction, which Iâm happy to discuss. Any questions please get in touch!  Edited February 22, 2019 by JMT3781 2
Soledad Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Isn't this just a bit Pino Palladino...?! Saw him playing an MM fretless natural in 1986 backing Go West at a showcase gig. Lovely bass
