Jimbobble Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Just got into flatwounds and have been enjoying playing my bass again, writing songs & working out stevie wonder, motown stuff etc. I've always been a big tone fan, creedence, r&b combo stuff and found this band called craddock. They're really good. Here in the U.K craddock means vulva not the gluteus maxus. Does anybody think that they knew this & are being ironic or is it a naive U.S expression of sexuality. I'm a fan but not in a creepy way. So craddock? A band called craddock but not as explicit as meow meow riot per se. They can really play tho. If I started a band called willy that'd be funny so are they taking the fosters? On a more serious note. Should I use compression on my flats live? I swapped my 4 x 10 for another 1x15 & I've got a stack of 2x15s with XL flats on my jazz bass & it sounds ace. It sounded like and felt like playing a wellington boot until I set it up and made a foam damper. Now I'm absolutely sold & even using a pick for extra thump. Jim Quote

NikNik Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Suzi Quatro was once a member of that band, iirc. Quote
skidder652003 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 I loved what looked like a Precision? And the Sunn/acoustic amp head? The 335 wasn't too shabby either! Bottoms up! Quote

Leonard Smalls Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 I saw an interview with them a while ago... They said they were very surprised that British audiences knew them, and wondered why the audience would all chant "craddock!" as soon as they came on stage. 1 2 Quote

There would be a whole heap of extra confusion for the band if audiences had actually shouted "Craddock", or perhaps the more conventionally trained musos might have chanted ""Waterman". Quote

YouMa Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Great band. The drummer was a bit scary. The Slits did some mental stuff. Typical girls is brilliant. I like that female band in The killing of sister George film, the one at the Gateways Lesbian club. Quote
karlfer Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Jean & June Millington, Nicky Barclay, can't remember the 4th. Mother's Pride was an excellent album, In The Dream I Had Last Night a terrific song. Quote

I wonder if he knows that that means a pee in Scotland ? 1 Quote

Not quite so cool though is it? A kid called Slash in my school would have got the pish ripped right out of him! 😂 1 Quote
