therealting Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Was looking at possibly the Boss Katana, but any other suggestions for a nice little amp that will happily amplify bass to living room levels and also give nice guitar tones? Quote
pete.young Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Yamaha THR10 works pretty well with bass as well a guitar - worth a try to see if it suits you. 1 Quote
pineweasel Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 The Roland Cube bass combos are pretty good for bass and clean guitar sounds too, thanks to a bunch of built in effects. Quote
naxos10 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 You could try the Vox Pathfinder 10w which due to the 5" speakers has a more of a top end frequency response. Quote

I have the THR10 and it is indeed not bad, thought I’d get something slightly more substantial basswise. Good suggestion though! Quote

The model of the Fender Bassman is great for guitar as you might expect in those amps. Takes pedals well too. Quote
converse320 Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I had an Ampeg Portaflex 20T for bass practice that I thought was OKish for bass, though didn't make it sing. When I finally managed to get my hands on the bass amp I'd been looking for since I started playing, I let my daughter have the ampeg for her guitar practice. It makes a MUCH better guitar amp than a bass amp, IMHO. Very varied tones, and finally the missing overdrive appears. I think it likes to see quite a high output pickup, other than that, I'd recommend trying one as bass or guitar amp. All valve, 4Ohm or 8 Ohm and you don't need a cab connected. There should be some cheap ones around as Kenny's were selling them at £275 until quite recently. Quote
MacDaddy Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Peavey Vypyr VIP 3. Guitar and bass modelling combo. The power sponge brings it down to 1w so great for home practice. But it's also loud enough to gig guitar and bass, which is what I have done. Quote
Open E Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Vox headphone amp about £39. Plug into your bass and pop on your headphones. It’s got a small phono input for an MP3 player It can mix the level of bass v mp3 and can also play a few basic drum beats. Use one all the time. Quote
ordep Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 FRFR (alto, etc) plus modelers? (Zoom, Line6, etc) Quote

xgsjx Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 FRFR (or a PA top) was my first thought too. 1 Quote
