binky_bass
Might be of use to someone! £112 but-it-now or you can make an offer, reckon if you got it at £80 it'd be a bit of a steal! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F292970306344
TheGreek
I remember seeing a kid of about 8 using one of these with a G77 Bass at a guitar fair back in the 80s...amazing bit of kit/ amazing playing. Aren't they a bit dated now and been superseded by more modern gear?
binky_bass
If you get a GK3-B pickup, they are actually still very useable. Without the pickup it's a bit pointless IMO.
Bassassin
Don't think £112 is a BIN, just the start price.
fleabag
Indeed it is, but he's willing to take offers, so it may not even go for the start price. I think someone would have a bid on it. How much is the pickup, assuming they can still be bought ?
Bassassin
Hmmm...
binky_bass
Curious indeed... Not sure of the logic behind that! But the pick ups are circa £50-£70 second hand. Closer to £110 new if you can find them.
EMG456
I have one of these- don’t use it much but it’s still relevant. Nice sounds and built like a tank.

This isn't a guitar synth, but a modelling unit which processes the actual sounds from the bass (fitted with a suitable pickup) rather than replacing them with synth sounds. Unfortunately in the last few years, Roland appear to have given up on their V-system instruments except for drums, so the usefulness of this device is ultimately limited. NikNik
That beast isn't the same as the G77/G77B combo. I don't recall the V-Bass needing a special pickup? I thought it was a modeller you just plugged straight into?
EMG456
Yes, it can process a normal input and apply effects, amp and cab sims etc. but it also takes the output from a GK3 hex pickup. This enables per string processing so that you could have different effects on different strings, do alternate tunings and opens up the V-Bass cosm bass models, where you can choose pickup types and positions, body types (solid, acoustic, semi acoustic etc in order to emulate the sounds of different basses. The Gk3/V-bass setup works for 4,5 or 6 string basses.
