ezbass Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 (edited) Have some more messing... Joe playing that old Robelli again rather than his EBMM sig. Edited June 7, 2019 by ezbass 1 Quote
burno70 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I listened to the new Ulysses tune yesterday - as awesome as ever. Absolutely love this guy's style and tone. Quote
cheddatom Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 To be fair this was probably recorded before the signature model came out Quote
dannybuoy Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Glad to see him playing these MM style basses again, they sit in the mix perfectly for this style of music! Quote
chris_b Posted June 8, 2019 Author Posted June 8, 2019 Fabulous playing from everyone. Thanks for posting. Quote
kevin_lindsay Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 The bass in the clip is his old Robelli bass 1 Quote

kevin_lindsay Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 I may well be wrong. Whatever bass it is, it's an ugly beast! Hahaha Quote
Dubs Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Every time I see a Nate Smith video I send it to my drummer. 2 Quote
Davo-London Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Heresy maybe, but I preferred his Precision/Jazz tone. Admittedly not a lot in it though. It's still Joe Dart. Peace Davo 1 Quote
drTStingray Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) The Tesla video, if not the other one have been around since before the Musicman signature. It all sounds great to me - and oh for a drummer like this who knows how to play funk - without a whacking great fill which removes all the space and clashes with the other instruments every fourth bar (a la many 1968 rock bands - ok though it was back then). Rock drummers should study Steve Gadd 😏 Edited June 10, 2019 by drTStingray 1 Quote
Davo-London Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Steve Gadd is a monster drummer. EVERYONE should study Steve Gadd. His interview about 50 ways to leave your lover is, however, possibly the worst interview ever! Davo 1 Quote
drTStingray Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Yep agreed. According to Joe Dart and Jack Stratton that cheapo Robelli was the inspiration for the signature bass - they got them to make a top quality version of it, basically. Quote
