Any news ???

Nothing since Dec 2nd, but it has been Christmas.  I'll drop him an email this weekend to see where we are at.

Speaking with Jon this week I'm hoping I might get my hands on it next Friday, exactly 13 months after my initial query to Jon about having a custom instrument made for me.

It's a lovely instrument, very well balanced, light and super comfy to play.  Jon has done a great job and he's a really nice guy.

Specifications of the bass:

- Alder body with English Elm Burr drop top
- Birdseye Maple fingerboard on a maple neck
- 40mm neck width at nut, 19mm string spacing at bridge
- ABM single string bridge pieces
- Schaller Light Weight Tuners
- Aaron Armstrong Handwound J pickups
- Norstrand 2B Pre-Amp
- Luminlay Side Dots

I may try a few different pickups to see what I like best, I'm tempted by some Nordstrand J Blades.   However, I'm also wondering whether I should have just gone for Soapbar pickups.  I mentioned it to Jon today when I collected the bass and he said it would be no problem to re-route the pickups if I wanted to.

That is absolutely beautiful.

Just beautiful ...

In fact I may have to print that picture out at A2, then enroll as a student again just so I can put it  as a poster on my bedroom wall

Stunning.
