So I took the plunge Into having a go.

Jazz was a swap Ash factory second which has been abused with their sander and seemed unsellable so I picked it up for very little cost.

Quite happy for a first job.

Black hardware and a maple neck and SJB quarter pounders to be added, will see if it sounds OK and will post up the finished article

They could well be, but I think it was a mistake gash, but I likes the look of them!

That's all that really needs to be said.  If you can't do things to your own taste, where is the point?  I only asked because it looked like an attempt at a lightened body that didn't quite work.

I hope you get some fun out of playing those too.  What are you planning next?

The very cool @foxyFuze donated a neck to me from an old PJ bass.

It fits the pocket nice, so I bolted it on!

Yep the machine heads are silver, and the bridge black, but I don’t mind, and I think the body looks killer with black bridge and ferrules for the neck screws.

pots in, Jack in, foam in.

Last port of call - wiring - pesky kids needing ferrying around etc and work getting in the way.

Decent chance to get it done Sunday.

I can check it’s working then and then fashion a plate of some description for the cavity from who knows what material - I should prob get a black plastic sheet and shape it.

Anyone use magnets or just screws, and if magnets, any leads on where to source the right kind or ones?

Wired up, action about 2mm at the 12th fret

I just need to get a bit of plastic for the back cavity and shape it.

Job done - great fun.

Would make a decent burner or starter bass by all means - not sure I am boutique just yet!
