petebassist
Can't find any info on the web about this Artisan. I was toying with the idea of trying it out for open mics/jams/pub gigs when I might not want to take my acoustic (e.g. pubs where a few of the punters can be slightly worse for wear). Thanks. TheRev
Seen them on the web but never in the flesh. The impression I get is that it's Chinese eBay eye candy - much nicer to look at than it is to play. The total lack of any reviews anywhere would worry me... For open Mic stuff where you don't want to take a big bass I'd be inclined to buy a second hand Stagg EUB - not that expensive and at least you know what you're getting.
petebassist
@TheRev Yeah I think you're right mate. Maybe it was sold elsewhere under another name. Thanks
Happy Jack
If you're after an upright bass with the DB feel but considerably more sturdy and gig-resistant, check out the KK Baby Bass range, which is a development of the original Ampeg design. Not cheap, but you could reverse your Transit over one and chances are it would survive. Might need to re-set the bridge, though ...

They look great, but as you'll know, there's nowhere you can go and try one out. There is a Ray Ramirez in the Bass Gallery, so maybe next time I'm visiting the Big Smoke I could try it out. Maybe cheaper to hire myself a personal body guard for the evening 😉
Happy Jack
Contact Kris Kedzior (KK), he lives in Staines and will happily let you come and try one.
