bubinga5 Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 (edited) The Purdie shuffle with some of the finest laid back playing from Chuck Rainey. Its such a fantastic rhythm section. Then put the chords and sprinkles on top. Those who know Steely Dan. Know. Edited March 8, 2019 by bubinga5 2 Quote
YouMa Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 I'll raise you I got the blues. Aja is a sublime album. The Dan rule. It's just the best music in the world to think too and the lyrics are just mental. Green earings? 2 Quote

PawelG Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 Love it, one of the best bands. Although, I must say if I listen to them for a week non stop - I can’t stop noticing how produced it is. Sounds almost sterile after a while. That’s probably why their music is commonly used to test audiophile gear... Quote
fleabag Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 I've heard SD music described as ' sickly sweet ' because of how right every track seems to be. Everything thought out to the nth degree, the right musicians chosen for the job in hand, the right instruments and right sound, and how their form of jazzy tunes are so easy to listen to. 1 Quote
songofthewind Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 I owe so much to Steely Dan. Thanks for reminding me with a great track. Quote
