LITTLEWING Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 She's an awesome bass player with apparently a lovely voice and I love her playing behind Jeff Beck but I'm sorry to say that whole 5 minutes and 18 seconds did nothing for me whatsoever. It was like trying to watch telly and someone won't stop chatting to you. Know what I mean? So much was going on but, it was for me, musically annoying. Each to their own I guess. Sorry TW. 4 Quote
Chris2112 Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 It has an oddly dissonant and 'ugly' sound that doesn't sit well with my ear. It's also quite a chaotic sounding piece. Not to my taste. 3 Quote
gjones Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 I like the song, it reminds me of Jeff Buckley, but I'm not a fan of her voice. Maybe she could write the songs and get another singer into the band to sing them (like Pete Townsend does with Roger daltrey). But she is a great bass player. 1 Quote
paul_5 Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 (edited) Loved it! New album with this on it out next week. Edited March 10, 2019 by paul_5 1 1 Quote
thepurpleblob Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Hmmm... will take a few listens that will... Quote
bootleg Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 I liked it. Then watched the rest of the "set". Great sense of humour. Quote

I know exactly what you mean. Too busy and nothing you can actually grab in it. Thing is, I would probably have liked it 40 years ago. But nowadays I like my rocknroll to be a bit more visceral. Maybe the ability to handle complexity diminishes with age. 2 Quote
4000 Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Instrumentation aside it has a vaguely Soundgarden/Alice in chains or similar feel to it to me, a bit early 90s. Quote

jacko Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Don't like her vocals (trying too hard to be alanis morisette? ) and I couldn't hear much bass over the crap guitard. Maybe she should stick with Jeff Beck. 1 Quote
fleabag Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Quite liked it. Didnt dig the bass sound much though Quote
Barking Spiders Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Don't care for her folk warbler -come-Morrissette voice nor the guitar sound. She can play for sure but I've yet to hear any music she's played on that does owt for me, especially not the jazz rock stuff with Jeff Beck. Cant say I hear AIC or Soundgarden here though Quote

BreadBin Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 I can't help thinking how amazing it would sound with Chris Cornell singing it 😞 1 Quote
spencer.b Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 Wow, I was expecting a fusion bass shred up, loved that , I'm hearing the 90s Soundgarden AIC thing too 2 Quote

Barking Spiders Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 Just to be fair I've listened to it twice more to see if it's a grower but no. It's not ugly but it doesn't go anywhere. Then again that's something that can be said about most music especially of the common or garden verse chorus verse variety Quote
cheddatom Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 I listened on headphones without watching and I thought it was awesome, even the bass tone 2 Quote
mattbass6 Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 Wonderfully dark, quirky and yet, poppy. Love it........ ⭐ 1 Quote
