Cheers Stuart
See a doctor? You will prob get loads of useless unedumacated tips but without knowing what caused it a doctor is yer best bet. I sliced the palm of my fretting hand open the day of a gig once! Panicked for a little while then cleaned it up and super glued it back together Worked a treat! Quote
Mike Brooks Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Won't solve it but may ease the pain and help a little....try some glucosamine gel, you can get it from lots of places but Holland & Barratt do it cheap. Mike Quote

Mr. Foxen Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Have the band transpose everything into the key of E or A, if you have a detuner D might be an option. Throw horns/pump the air with your free hand. Quote
Gamble Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 +1 for throwing the horns, that's my best move on stage! A pointy finger straight up in the air is always a good one too. Quote
vmaxblues Posted December 9, 2008 Author Posted December 9, 2008 Cheers guys, i am taking ibuprofen and using a cryogenic paste on the area, al seems to be helping, but i know i am going to struggle on the night! And in answer to an earlier question I am right handed. Cheers all Quote
SkinnyMike Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 If it feels like its a muscle type pain then cover you hand in some tiger balm! I used to use this stuff when I would sprain my ankle when skateboarding and id be able to get right back on and carry on kick flipping those stair sets!! Quote

timloudon Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 I'm just getting over this problem. It's probably Tenosynovitus - the inflamation of the tendon sheath at the base of your thumb. I'm just resting it at the moment, and making damn sure I do a proper warm up when I do start playing again! http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/23069141/ Mind you, it might not be that. If it isn't, see a doctor! Quote
